soulmates

there is someone out there for everyone

a common refrain for anyone feeling lonely

but what if we were given endless opportunities?

that there are several someones for everyone?

a soulmate has been conflated to mean

one person perfectly suited for us

I believe we’re surrounded by soulmates

thousands of people that we could be with

but the less we learn about the world around us

the smaller our scope, a tiny chance at finding

one of the people we’re meant to be with
